Founded in 2003, Ahl al-Bayt University is a for-profit private higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Karbala (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research of Iraq, Ahl al-Bayt University (ABU) is a very small coeducational Iraqi higher education institution. Ahl al-Bayt University (ABU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. This 19 years old Iraqi higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations. The admission rate range is 80-90% making this Iraqi higher education organization a least selective institution. ABU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sports facilities, financial aids and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.
