Founded in 1912, Ateneo de Zamboanga University is a non-profit private higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Zamboanga City (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Zamboanga Peninsula. Officially recognized by the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines, Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) is a coeducational Philippine higher education institution formally affiliated with the Christian-Catholic religion. Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. This 110 years old Philippine higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades.
