Founded in 2002, Galen University is a for-profit private higher-education institution located in the rural setting of the large town of San Ignacio (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Cayo. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Belize, Galen University (GU) is a very small coeducational Belizean higher education institution. Galen University (GU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 20 years old Belizean higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades.
