Founded in 1975, Inönü Üniversitesi (Inönü University) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the medium city of Malatya (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants). Officially recognized by the YÖK - Yüksekögretim Kurulu (YÖK - Council of Higher Education), Inönü Üniversitesi (IÜ) is a very large coeducational Turkish higher education institution.
