Founded in 1992, Mersin Üniversitesi (Mersin University) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the small city of Yenisehir (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Mersin. Officially recognized by the YÖK - Yüksekögretim Kurulu (YÖK - Council of Higher Education), Mersin Üniversitesi is a very large coeducational Turkish higher education institution. Mersin Üniversitesi offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study.
