Founded in 1991, Ostravská univerzita (University of Ostrava) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the medium city of Ostrava (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Moravian-Silesian Region. Officially recognized by the Ministerstvo kolství, mládee a telovýchovy Ceské republiky (Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic), Ostravská univerzita (OU) is a medium-sized coeducational Czech higher education institution. Ostravská univerzita (OU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. OU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sports facilities, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.
