Founded in 2006, Pharos University in Alexandria is a for-profit private higher-education institution located in the rural setting of the large metropolis of Alexandria (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education of Egypt, Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA) is a small coeducational Egyptian higher education institution.
