Founded in 1997, St. Matthew's University is a for-profit private higher-education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of George Town (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Grand Cayman. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, Training, Employment, Youth, Sports & Culture of the Cayman Islands, St. Matthew's University (SMU) is a very small coeducational Caymanian higher education institution. St. Matthew's University (SMU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 25 years old Caymanian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. SMU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, financial aids and/or scholarships, as well as administrative services.
