Established in 1997, Universidad de Guantánamo (University of Guantanamo) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the small city of Guantánamo (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Guantanamo. Officially recognized by the Ministerio de Educación Superior, Cuba (Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba), Universidad de Guantánamo (UG) is a medium-sized coeducational Cuban higher education institution. Universidad de Guantánamo (UG) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. UG also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.
