Founded in 1976, Universidad Popular del Cesar (Popular University of Cesar) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Valledupar (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Cesar. This institution also has a branch campus in Aguachica. Officially recognized by the Ministerio de Educación Nacional, Colombia (Ministry of National Education of Colombia), Universidad Popular del Cesar (UPC) is a large coeducational Colombian higher education institution. Universidad Popular del Cesar (UPC) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 45 years old Colombian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades.
