Established in 1962, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Eduardo Mondlane University) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the metropolis of Maputo (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Maputo City. Officially recognized by the Ministério de Educação e Desenvolvimento Humano, Mozambique (Ministry of Education and Human Development of Mozambique), Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) is a very large coeducational Mozambican higher education institution. Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. This 60 years old Mozambican higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations. UEM also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sports facilities, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services.
