Established in 2001, Université Echahid Hamma Lakhdar d'El Oued (El-Oued University) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the suburban setting of the small city of El Oued (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants). Officially recognized by the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche Scientifique, Algérie (Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Algeria), Université Echahid Hamma Lakhdar d'El Oued is a large coeducational Algerian higher education institution.
