Established in 1983, Universitas Al-Azhar (Al-Azhar University) is a private higher-education institution located in the metropolis of Medan (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), North Sumatra. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Al-Azhar is a very small coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Universitas Al-Azhar offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. Universitas Al-Azhar also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including as well as administrative services.
