Established in 1999, Universitas Borneo Tarakan (Borneo Tarakan University) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the small city of Tarakan (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), East Kalimantan. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Borneo Tarakan (UBT) is a small coeducational Indonesian higher education institution. Universitas Borneo Tarakan (UBT) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. UBT also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services.
