Founded in 2005, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati (State Islamic University Sunan Gunung Djati) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Bandung (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), West Java. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati (UINSGD) is a large coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati (UINSGD) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 16 years old Indonesian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades.
