Established in 1970, Universitas Islam Negeri Walisongo (Walisongo State Islamic University) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Semarang (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Central Java. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Islam Negeri Walisongo (UIN Walisongo) is a large coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion.
