Founded in 1962, Universitas Islam Riau (Islamic University of Riau) is a private higher-education institution located in the large city of Pekanbaru (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Riau. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) is a small coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. UIR also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sports facilities, as well as administrative services.
