Established in 1962, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (Sultan Agung Islamic University) is a non-profit private higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Semarang (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Central Java. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) is a large coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 60 years old Indonesian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades.
