Established in 1964, Universitas Khairun (Khairun University) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Ternate (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), North Maluku. This institution also has a branch campus in Sofifi. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Khairun (UNKHAIR) is a large coeducational Indonesian higher education institution. Universitas Khairun (UNKHAIR) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 58 years old Indonesian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades.
