Established in 1961, Universitas Kristen Petra (Petra Christian University) is a non-profit private higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Surabaya (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), East Java. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Kristen Petra (UKP) is a medium-sized coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Christian-Protestant religion. Universitas Kristen Petra (UKP) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 60 years old Indonesian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades.
