Founded in 2003, Universitas Merdeka Surabaya (Free University of Surabaya) is a private higher-education institution located in the metropolis of Surabaya (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), East Java. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Merdeka Surabaya (UNMERBAYA) is a very small coeducational Indonesian higher education institution.
