Founded in 1965, Universitas Methodist Indonesia (Methodist University of Indonesia) is a private higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Medan (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), North Sumatra. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Methodist Indonesia (UMI) is a small coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Christian-Methodist religion. Universitas Methodist Indonesia (UMI) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. UMI also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services.
