Founded in 1982, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo) is a private higher-education institution located in the metropolis of Ponorogo (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), East Java. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO) is a small coeducational Indonesian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 40 years old Indonesian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades.
