Established in 2006, Universitas Riau Kepulauan (University of Riau Islands) is a private higher-education institution located in the metropolis of Batam (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Riau Islands. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Riau Kepulauan is a small coeducational Indonesian higher education institution.
