Established in 1985, Universitas Serambi Mekkah (Serambi Mekkah University) is a private higher-education institution located in the medium city of Banda Aceh (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Aceh. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Serambi Mekkah is a small coeducational Indonesian higher education institution. Universitas Serambi Mekkah offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study.
