Established in 1992, University for Development Studies is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the suburban setting of the small city of Tamale (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Northern Region. Officially recognized by the National Accreditation Board, Ghana (National Accreditation Board of Ghana), University for Development Studies (UDS) is a coeducational Ghanaian higher education institution. University for Development Studies (UDS) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. UDS also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services.
