Founded in 1965, Université Al Quaraouiyine (University of Al Quaraouiyine) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Fez (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Fes-Meknes. Officially recognized by the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur, de la Recherche Scientifique et de la Formation des Cadres (Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training of Morocco), Université Al Quaraouiyine (UAQ) is a medium-sized coeducational Moroccan higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Université Al Quaraouiyine (UAQ) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study.
