Founded in 1987, Université de la Polynésie Française (University of French Polynesia) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Punaauia (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants). Officially recognized by the Ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l'Innovation, France (Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of France), Université de la Polynésie Française (UPF) is a small coeducational Polynesian higher education institution. Université de la Polynésie Française (UPF) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 35 years old Polynesian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. UPF also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sports facilities, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.
