Founded in 1981, Université du Québec en Outaouais (University of Québec in Outaouais) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the medium city of Gatineau (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Quebec. Officially recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur, Québec (Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Quebec), Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) is a small coeducational Canadian higher education institution. Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study.
