Founded in 1965, Urmia University is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Urmia (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), West Azerbaijan. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, Urmia University is a large coeducational Iranian higher education institution. Urmia University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 57 years old Iranian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations. Urmia University also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sports facilities, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services.
