Established in 1998, Zanzibar University is a private higher-education institution located in the medium city of Zanzibar City (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Mjini Magharibi. Officially recognized by the Tanzania Commission for Universities, Zanzibar University (ZU) is a very small coeducational Tanzanian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Zanzibar University (ZU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. ZU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services.
